Achievements

Most economists at Lexecon have a University of Chicago (the 2nd-ranked economics department worldwide) or Northwestern (7th-ranked) pedigree. For Lexecon to hire a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado was unprecedented.

At Lexecon, I was able to bring the table a unique set of technical skills. I was pleased to see that those skills served me (and Lexecon) well in my tenure there.

  • Top-billing professional
    • In the October-to-October period (the period used for employee evaluation) the year before my departure, I billed the second-highest number of hours at my level, missing the top spot by just a few billable hours.
  • Recruited for their most prominent matters, including
  • Augmented management experience acquired at The Active Network with experience managing teams of research analysts and general client and case management.

After two successful years at Lexecon, I decided to pursue a life-long goal of working overseas. While the senior staff was amenable to my plans, and made it clear that I was welcome back upon my return to the U.S., after a year working in the People's Republic of China, I have decided to explore the possibility of continuing to live and work in China.

It was an honor to be able to work with the team at Lexecon, and I am proud of the work we accomplished.

About Lexecon

Lexecon, a subsidiary of FTI Consulting, is one of the leading economic consulting firms in the U.S.. Lexecon provides empirical analysis used for strategic planning, regulatory review, and litigation support in two broad categories: M&A (mergers and acquisitions, including antitrust) and finance.

Lexecon is called when there are particularly complex issues requiring sound, thorough empirical analysis. Much of the work that Lexecon does involves high profile, high dollar issues which you can read about in the business section of the newspaper, including matters that I have contributed analysis to, such as Enron, the $17 billion merger of AT&T and SBC, the $8 billion merger of Verizon and MCI, and market timing.

Lexecon attracts leading economists from academia, with most economists employed by Lexecon having received their Ph.D. or Master's degree from the University of Chicago. In addition, they work with internationally known economists and academics.
