Achievements

• Received the Yunnan Color Cloud Award, the highest honor bestowed upon foreign experts by Yunnan Province, for my work.
• Created a full set of curricula and course materials from the ground up which can be used for the benefit of future generations of students.
• Quickly adapted to a very different set of cultural norms and a different educational system.

My work at Yunnan University was an immensely rewarding experience, so much so that I have decided to pursue further career options in China.

Teaching

In addition to other cultural differences, the teaching style that Chinese students were accustomed to was quite different from the style I was accustomed to from my teaching experience at the University of Colorado.

In response to that challenge, I actively engaged students in the classroom, continuously soliciting feedback to ensure that information was being understood and students felt comfortable asking questions. I also took great pains to create a variety of resources that would allow students to review the curriculum and seek further information in the comfort of their home.
